Right at the heart of Calvert Kielder is the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy adventure, spend time with the people they love and create memories together.
That became especially important for Becky and her family following her dad’s diagnosis with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a rare, progressive neurological condition that can affect movement, balance, speech and independence. Like many families facing a life-changing diagnosis, Becky’s family have had to come to terms with an uncertain future. But rather than focusing only on what lies ahead, they are determined to make the most of the time they have together.
To enjoy new experiences. To have adventures. And, most importantly, to make memories.
We were delighted to welcome the family to Calvert Kielder and to play a small part in helping them do just that.
Making memories that matter
At Calvert Kielder, we know that adventure means different things to different people. For some, it might mean trying an activity they never thought possible. For others, it might simply mean having the opportunity to get away together and enjoy precious time as a family.
Our accessible facilities, specialist equipment and experienced team help ensure that disabled people, their families and friends can take part in experiences together. Because inclusion is about making sure nobody has to miss out.
For Becky and her family, their time at Calvert Kielder was an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company, share new experiences and create memories together. Becky is now fundraising to support people affected by MSA, contribute towards equipment at Calvert Kielder, and help Becky’s family enjoy more special experiences together. Their story is a powerful reminder of why the moments we share matter so much.
